Okay, I have now been using my homemade laundry soap for over a week. It gets my clothes clean just fine. I have noticed that I have not been itching as much. I love the cost - about $2.00 for 10 gallons of laundry soap! My next frugal attempt is to stop using dryer sheets. Instead use half a sponge dipped in 1 part liquid fabric softner and 2 parts water. Wring out and throw in dryer. It is suppose to work as well as dryer sheets, plus the sponge is reuseable - save the planet! Besides I HATE taking out the trash :)
I have decided I want to try something new each month in 2011. My first attempt is making my own liquid laundry soap. This is something I have been wanting to try for over a year now. It took my niece, Desiree, to beat me to it to motivate me. It was so easy. I haven't washed any clothes with it yet, but Desiree says that it has helped to eliminate some of their problems associated with detergent and eczema. Since I currently have two foster daughters with eczema, I am anxious to try it.
Not sure what my February attempt will be yet. Perhaps a new receipe. Any thoughts out there?
Walgreens currenty thru Saturday has a sale on Colgate Toothpaste. Sale Price $2.99 with a Register Reward of $2.00 making it $.99. My Walgreens also had coupons by the toothpaste for $1.50 off a 4 oz tube of toothpaste making this deal a $.49 moneymaker. How can you afford not to get this. If you already have enough toothpaste at your house - then donate it. I know our church - Vineyard Christian could use it in their Father's Storehouse program.
If you have a child in college like I do, you are always looking for ways to help with the bare essentials.
Walgreens has several good buys starting next week Aug 29 thru Sept 4:
Carmex Moisture Plus Lip Balm on sale for $2.00 with register rewards of $2.00 = FREE
Colgate Total Toothpaste on sale for $2.99 with register rewards of $2.00 = $.99 each
(could be even less or free if you have a manufacturer's coupon to pair with it)
Listerine Mouthwas on sale for $2.99 with a register reward of $1.00 = $1.99 each
Perfection Tampons on sale for $1.99 with register reward of $1.99 = FREE (even if this isn't a brand you like they are nice to have on hand for emergencies - especially in a dorm)
Okay friends and family here is my first post to my newly created blog.
In case you haven't liked Ball Park Franks on Facebook yet - you need to. Then you can print (2) $2.00 coupons. Dillons has them on sale for 4/$10 this week. I also had an ecoupon for $.75 which made my two packages of beef Ball Park Franks $.25.
